Due to its tiny size and geographic isolation, Koh Lipe is much lesser known than its popular brothers and sisters. But it’s this sense of mystery that makes Koh Lipe worth visiting. It may be a bit more tricky to get to, but a visit to this tiny Thai island is well worth the effort.
What is Ko Lipe known for?
Ko Lipe has three main beaches which are Sunset Beach (Hat Pramong), Sunrise Beach (Hat Chao Ley), and Pattaya Beach. The calm, clear water makes Ko Lipe ideal for snorkeling, with 25 percent of the world’s tropical fish species found in the area.

Is Koh Lipe quiet?

From today (July 1st, 2020), Koh Lipe Island is open and ready to welcome back tourists to the island. Limited ferry services have resumed from Pak Bara. Speed boats are departing at 11.30 am, and return ferries are departing from Koh Lipe at 9.30 am.
Are there cars on Koh Lipe?
Large parts of the island can be reached just by walking along the beaches. There are few roads on Koh Lipe and no cars. A lot of locals have motorbikes and scooters which they zip around on. The taxi boats are run by the local chao ley boat men and charge 50 baht per person to anywhere on the island.

By Air: The nearest airport to Koh Lipe is Hat Yai. The cheapest and easiest way to get from Bangkok to Koh Lipe is to fly to the Hat Yai airport. Then take a shuttle bus to Pak Bara pier for 250 baht, and then at Pak Bara pier, you can get on a ferry to Koh Lipe for 650 baht.
How do you get from Bangkok to Koh Lipe?
The simplest and quickest way to reach Koh Lipe from Bangkok is to fly to Hat Yai. From there you can travel overland to Pak bara and then take the ferry to Koh Lipe. Fly with Air Asia, Thai Smile and Nok Air to Hat Yai. From Hat Yai you will need to travel to Pak Bara for the ferry to Koh Lipe.
