What are Matrix communities?

All matrix users of the client element (and a few other clients) can use communities to filter different rooms, which may be lost or scattered in the room list on the left. Communities can only be created for yourself or for others (if you invite them into a community) and create a superordinate structure for rooms.
How do you join a community Matrix?
Once you’re in the room, you can invite people via the “Invite” icon in the bottom right. You can invite via email address. If they aren’t already on Matrix, they’ll get an invitation email to sign up. You can also invite via ID.
How do you find the Matrix room?
The room directory, in which the publicly accessible rooms are presented, can be reached via the button “Discover / Explore” in the upper left corner under the own display name. Here you can immediately search for a room on the TUD-Matrix.

What is a Matrix room?
Users are able to participate in rooms that were created on any Matrix server since each server federates with other Matrix servers. This means you can talk to anyone on any server. It also means you can host your own server, giving you control over all of your data.

A matrix chart or diagram is a project management and planning tool used to analyze and understand the relationships between data sets. Matrix charts compare two or more groups of elements or elements within a single group.
Is Matrix better than Signal?
Signal strongly prefers secure communication. Matrix offers the users to choose secured “rooms”, and when they do, these are basically at the same security as Signal. (Matrix secure rooms are reliable in real-life tests.) In the case of Signal, the (encrypted) messages are visible to Open Whisper server operators.
