Can you use SBR on plywood?
If tiling on fibre-reinforced cement sheets, or plywood/chipboard, then we would always recommend priming the reverse side and edges with BAL Bond SBR. This helps protect the plywood from moisture penetration which could cause the board to swell.
Can SBR be used on wood?
Pro SBR can be used as a superior priming agent for both porous surfaces including masonry, plaster, cementitious screeds, timber and vinyl and is used extensively by plasterers, floor layers, tillers and in general building works.
Can you use SBR bond as a primer?
A multi-use synthetic polymer primer and admixture, BAL Bond SBR can be used as a bonding agent for adding to mortars used in screeding, plaster, rendering, bricklaying, pointing and repairs and as a primer for tile fixing onto timber, plaster, screeds, rendering or vinyl tiles.
What is an SBR primer?
0.00. NoMorePly® Primer is a Premium latex based waterproof primer. It is used to seal the surface of NoMorePly® boards to improve the bonding strength of the tile adhesive. It helps to reflect heat which enhances the insulation value of NoMorePly to make it better for use with underfloor heating.
Does primer need plywood before painting?
If you want to paint plywood, you’ll first need to apply a primer. General-purpose wood primer will give you a smooth, nonporous base coat to work with. The base coat will prevent the pigment in the paint from being absorbed by the plywood, requiring many layers and creating muted colors.
Can you use SBR neat?
Do not use neat SBR as a bonding grout, without adding cement. Maximum dilution of SBR with the gauging water is 1:4. Free fall mixers are not suitable for SBR mortars; the higher performance forced action paddle type mixers are recommended for more efficient and speedier mixing of the mortars.
Does SBR stop efflorescence?
It is especially suitable for renders and floors with high abrasion resistance and for patching and bonding onto substrates of low suction. All surfaces must be load bearing and free of material that could interfere with adhesion (e.g. parting agents, loose material, dust, sanding, efflorescence, soiling).
How do you apply SBR primer?
1, Ensure surfaces are free from dirt, grease and other loose materials. Brush down highly polished surfaces with a stiff bristle brush before priming. 2. Apply 2 coats of BAL BOND SBR using a clean brush from a container, diluted or undiluted as appropriate (See USAGE above).
How do you mix SBR primer?
Mix 1 part SBR to 4 parts water. Brush on to surface and allow to dry. CLEANING 20.
Can primer be applied on plywood?
Staining. If you choose to stain plywood rather than paint it, you shouldn’t apply a primer. Primer penetrates the porous surface of plywood, which is the same thing penetrating stains do. Primer will cause the stain to remain on the surface and prevent the plywood from attaining the desired coloration.
How do you prime and paint plywood?
If you must sand the plywood, lightly scuff the surface with 120-grit sandpaper. Next, wipe the wood down with a rag soaked in mineral spirits. Once the wood is dry you can apply primer with a brush or roller. Once the primer has cured, apply the paint!
