As we were to soon discover, Breakneck Ridge is not for the faint of heart. If you’re taking the train, there is the Breakneck Ridge stop right near the trail head on the weekends, and if during the week, there is the Cold Spring stop and you can either cab it or walk the 2.5 miles.

To get to Breakneck Ridge from NYC, you can take the Metro North. On the weekends, the train stops at Breakneck. During the week, you have to get off at Cold Spring, a town about 2 miles from the trail head. You can also drive of course, but there is limited parking by the trail.

Is Breakneck Ridge station closed?
The stop and trailhead was initially planned to close for reconstruction at the beginning of 2018, with reopening planned for April 2019.
