The chain’s new parent company sold all 76 Gold Circle stores in 1988 to Kimco Development Corp. of Roslyn, N.Y. Kimco, in turn, leased 35 of those stores to Hills Department Stores, including all the Rochester-area sites. Gold Circle stores were gone for good.
